Transforming Leadership Through Continuous Learning

As Founder and CEO of HFSE Global Education Group, Ninalyn Arciaga Sulit – Cacananta (Nina) chose NUS Business School Executive Education for its reputation as a “School of Excellence.” A lifelong learner herself, she sought not only to broaden her perspective but also to translate new insights into impact for her organisation.

Her experience affirmed this choice. While she appreciated the flexibility of online learning, she found the in-person sessions especially powerful. “The onsite, face-to-face experience is better — the interactive discussions, the energy, the depth of sharing made a stronger impact.” (Nina participated in the Enterprise Leadership for Transformation and Labour and Employment Law programmes in 2025.)

A New Perspective in Leadership

The programmes encouraged Nina to rethink how she approaches challenges in her role. She described the outcome as a “change in perspective,” one that prompted her to try different approaches and strategies in leading her team. Case studies, in particular, were instrumental: they offered frameworks she could immediately apply, reinforced by interactive peer discussions that sharpened her understanding.

Learning Beyond Borders

For Nina, the calibre and diversity of her peers was another defining feature. “The quality of learners at NUS is high, and I learnt a lot from them. The mix of industries and regions gave me perspectives I can adapt to my own organisation.” This network of leaders added depth to her learning journey, making the experience both practical and globally relevant.

A Message to Fellow Learners

Asked what advice she would give to others, Nina was clear: “Connect with other learners. Be confident in sharing your story — it may inspire others. Be curious and ask.”

As someone who leads an education group, Nina also emphasised the importance of lifelong learning. “As an educator, I advocate that we continue to have a love for learning. There are so many things to discover — and that makes life HAPI.”

#HFSEis9rateful

Today, we celebrate the 9th anniversary of HFSE International School, formerly known as Happy Family School of Excellence. Our story began with the resilience and determination of our founders, Ninalyn and Gary Cacananta, who faced challenges keeping their family united in a new country. When their son couldn’t secure a local school placement, they turned adversity into purpose, founding HFSE to support homeschooling families in Singapore.
