From Passion to Purpose at HFSE International School 

Ms Lhen’s HFSE teacher journey at HFSE International School reflects a story of dedication, growth, and purpose. What began as a practical decision soon became a meaningful calling shaped by her passion for teaching and her desire to make a difference in the lives of her students. 

 

A Beginning Rooted in Family and Passion 

Ms Lhen first joined HFSE when her children began attending the school. At the same time, she wanted to continue her passion for teaching. This unique opportunity allowed her to grow both as a parent and as an educator within the same community. 

Over time, her reason for staying became even clearer. She remained because of her love for teaching and her commitment to making a positive impact on her students. 

Balancing Roles with Care and Purpose 

As a parent, educator, and leader, Ms Lhen brings a deeply personal approach to her work. Her experience as a mother has shaped the way she supports her students. She treats them with the same care, patience, and understanding that she gives her own children. 

As a result, her classroom becomes a space where students feel supported, valued, and encouraged to grow. At the same time, her leadership reflects empathy and a strong sense of responsibility towards the school community.

Growth Through Experience 

Ms Lhen clearly remembers her first day at HFSE, when the school was located on the second floor of a shophouse in Upper Thomson. She felt excited to begin a new chapter where she could both work and be close to her children. 

At that time, she taught Primary 1 English. Although she loved teaching, she felt less confident, especially in building connections with her colleagues. However, with time and experience, this changed. 

Today, Ms Lhen is more confident and assured. She has built strong and meaningful relationships with her colleagues and feels proud of the growth she has achieved. This transformation reflects not only professional development, but also personal growth, marking an important stage in her HFSE teacher journey. 

 

A Decade of Learning and Illumination 

After ten years at HFSE, Ms Lhen describes her journey as both challenging and rewarding. As part of her HFSE teacher journey, she reflects on it as a period of continuous learning, growth, and self-discovery. 

Now, she sees herself entering a new phase. She believes this is the time to grow and illuminate from within. She has learned the importance of caring for herself so that she can continue to give more to others. 

Her vision is to share a light that inspires care, growth, and confidence. She hopes to encourage her students and the HFSE community to believe in themselves and embrace their unique strengths.
