HFSE International School and VizServe Outreach at St John’s Home for Elderly Persons
Building Compassion, Connection and a Legacy of Care
The HFSE International School community, together with the VizServe team, recently participated in a meaningful outreach programme at St. John’s Home for Elderly Persons. The initiative brought joy, laughter, and heartfelt connection to both residents and volunteers.
This activity was part of HFSE’s ongoing commitment to nurturing H.A.P.I. lives. It aimed to create experiences that remind us of the deeper values of compassion, presence, and service. At its core, the programme reflected the belief that life’s most meaningful moments come from pausing, listening, and giving to others.
Outreach with Heart
During their college days, founders of HFSE International School, Ms. Ninalyn Sulit-Cacananta, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HFSE Global Education Group, and Mr. Gary Guiang Cacananta, Co-Founder and Operations Director, were exposed to programmes that opened their minds to the realities of life. These experiences shaped their perspective on service and inspired the values guiding today’s outreach activities.
In the busyness of daily routines, it is easy to focus only on personal goals. However, at St John’s, the team discovered something deeper. The stories of the elderly residents, filled with wisdom, humour, and quiet joy, reminded everyone that life is not just about earning or achieving. Life is about meaningful connection, shared experiences, and leaving a legacy that reflects who we truly are.
A Day of Laughter, Listening and Connection
The outreach programme was engaging and uplifting from start to finish. Members of the HFSE and VizServe teams spent time with residents, listening to their stories, sharing laughter, and creating moments of comfort and companionship. The residents welcomed the team warmly, and each interaction showed mutual respect and care.
Participants saw that even simple acts of connection can make a lasting impact. Whether through conversation, laughter, or simply being present, the day highlighted how human connection enriches our lives and the lives of others.
Acknowledging Every Contribution
The success of the St John’s outreach was made possible through many hands and hearts. HFSE International School and VizServe sincerely thank everyone involved:
- HFSE and VizServe teams for their willingness to serve, their compassion, and the care they shared with residents throughout the programme.
- Staff and volunteers at St John’s Home for Elderly Persons for welcoming us with warmth and kindness. Your hospitality allowed meaningful conversations and smiles to flourish.
- Supporters and contributors for helping make this outreach possible. Your involvement in planning, logistics, transport, or encouragement brought joy and comfort to the residents.
Reflections and Forward Momentum
Although the outreach programme at St John’s concluded, its memories and lessons continue to inspire. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper understanding of compassion in everyday life. The experience showed that education and service extend far beyond classrooms. They live in how we show up for each other, listen carefully, and celebrate one another’s stories.
The legacy of HFSE International School and VizServe’s outreach work continues to inspire caring communities that honour the dignity and worth of every individual.
