English Week at HFSE: Words, Voices and Expression in Action
Celebrating Communication Across Primary and Secondary Levels
HFSE International School recently concluded another successful English Week, filled with creativity, confidence, and meaningful student participation. Across both Primary and Secondary levels, learners explored the power of language through performance, discussion, and self-expression.
English Week provided students with opportunities to develop speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills in engaging and memorable ways. At HFSE, language learning goes beyond textbooks and becomes a tool for confidence, connection, and growth.
Primary Students Bring Stories to Life
Primary students ended the week with a theatrical showcase inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Cinderella. Through monologue performances, students brought familiar characters and stories to life with energy and emotion.
Their presentations were more than acts of memorisation. Students used voice, expression, and movement to communicate meaning and capture the attention of their audience. As a result, they built confidence while developing language fluency in a creative setting.
These performances also encouraged imagination and emotional understanding, helping learners connect deeply with the stories they presented.
Secondary Students Debate Real World Issues
While Primary students focused on drama and storytelling, Secondary students took to the stage for lively debates on modern ethical issues. Topics included school uniform bans and the ethics of animal testing.
Students presented clear arguments, supported their views with evidence, and responded thoughtfully to opposing ideas. In addition, they demonstrated strong research skills, confidence in public speaking, and respect for different perspectives.
Debate activities such as these help students think critically, communicate effectively, and engage with real world issues in a structured way.
Language Learning in Action
English Week reflects HFSE’s belief that language is best developed through active use. Whether through storytelling, drama, or debate, students learn most effectively when they apply communication skills in authentic situations.
These experiences also help students become more confident speakers, attentive listeners, and thoughtful communicators. As a result, they are better prepared for academic success and future opportunities.
A Week of Growth and Achievement
HFSE congratulates all students who participated in English Week. Their enthusiasm, courage, and effort made the event both meaningful and memorable.
