HFSE’s Outreach Programme 2023 with ACMI

In Singapore, migrant workers make up a significant portion of the workforce. Many of these workers face challenges such as social isolation, language barriers, and limited access to essential services. To raise awareness on these issues and to cheer on the migrant community in Singapore, HFSE International School together with Partners for Excellence (P4E) and in partnership with the ACMI Singapore (Asian Centre for Migrant and Refugee Studies) and in coordination with Ministry of Manpower (MOM), launched an outreach program aimed at providing care packages to 150 migrant workers. Each care package that was donated by HFSEan families contains a packet of biscuits, coffee, juice, instant noodles and bars of soap.

The recipients of this year’s outreach program are workers from the Greenleaf Engineering Pte Ltd. Dormitory in Woodlands. On Sunday, March 26, 2023, the Cacananta, Obias, Pungtilan and Maribao families joined teachers and staff to personally hand out each package. During the short program, HFSE volunteers expressed their gratitude and interacted with the workers who were happy to share their stories of home and of their lives in Singapore. The team was also able to hear from a representative from ACMI, MOM, local dorm supervisors, and volunteers who are also workers themselves but volunteer to be ambassadors for and to their dorm mates. Everyone went home with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the workers.
